Description
Silent Book Club Harare returns to Shumba Village in Newlands for a relaxing Sunday afternoon gathering. This is a completely free, volunteer-driven BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) event designed for book lovers across the city. Unlike traditional book clubs, there are absolutely no assigned readings, no mandatory homework, and zero pressure. All formats and genres of reading materials are welcome, whether you prefer physical books, e-books, poetry, prose, or audiobooks. The unique experience offers a beautiful alternative format where solitude meets community, allowing readers to read alone together. Attendees can look forward to a structured schedule beginning with an initial arrive and settle period at 13:30. A dedicated hour of collective silent reading will commence exactly at 14:00, creating a powerful environment of quiet camaraderie. The final block of the afternoon at 15:00 is reserved for an open session where participants can freely socialize and network. Since public seating at the venue is strictly limited, early arrival is highly encouraged to secure a spot. Guests are more than welcome to bring along their own personal camping chairs, comfortable cushions, or picnic blankets. It serves as the perfect judgment-free zone to unplug from smartphones, escape routine noise, and connect with a thriving literary community.
